I just don't get how the politicians think these policies are good for anyone.

Its all about feeling good. Its sort of like this BS "Opiate Epidemic" its actually degenerate addicts on heroin that are dying..not prescription pills ( Heroin is actually cheaper than oxy on the streets). And the ones that are suffering ARE chronic pain patients. No its about feeling good. Even the documentary on HBO was BS. I am here the only person in that documentary that told it like it was, was the hooker. She's dead. Its called feeling good. Same is true for any corporate community outreach. Or plastic--people don't realize that 97% of ALL plastic pollution comes from the 3rd world and 99% in the Pacific Ocean comes from Pacific Rim countries. So much for the abuse of plastic straws. Feel good nonsense. Nothing more than the colonial White Man's Burden wrapped up in PC.

Both our Country’s have to work with our horses rear ends somehow. I just can never understand how the do good deed doers justify giving advantages to foreign countries, can they be so stupid they don’t realize the foreign countries hurt the global environment more than anything we do here at home?

MAJ Rj M Sir, I believe you need to review our country’s history again. We have had our share of growing pains over the last several hundred years, and made our share of mistakes; but we learned from those mistakes and try to do better.

MAJ Rj M - You are correct, the good deed doers do often come from the privileged of our society. The problem for a society occurs when enough of these types of people start coming from the middle class, as is what is starting to occur in Canada and the US from what I see. Our education system is starting to overtake our parental responsibilities. It does not speak well for us. We have some work to do. MHO

Your link does not lead to the article cited. The Oil Tanker Moratorium Act (Bill C-48) prohibits oil tankers carrying more than 12,500 metric tons of crude or persistent oil along BC’s North Coast. It replaces a voluntary ban that was in place since 1985. After decades of fighting to protect Canadian waters and fisheries from oil tankers, CFN-GBI Nations and other coastal communities celebrated the law's passage earlier this year. But it looks like the Alberta unemployment rate has been about 7% since Nov 2015, nearly 4-years before the Alberta "tanker ban" law was passed. I believe the US also imports more oil from Canada than any other source even with the current tanker ban and pipeline litigation, so I'm not sure what you are trying to say.

Oil market fell in 2015. Canadian Dollar went from .94 to .74 US Dollar. We have never been out of this recession while Canada had more like 5% Unemployment. I lived here, aside from a deployment ti Afghanistan since Nov, 2006.
