How the parties got their animal symbols

I'm thinking slime mold and leech, but we are on the same page.

Shame I thought the reality was how they acted.
Since history tells the first Democrats became the current Republicans at a later time.
But all there is now are the leaping of fools in a daisy chain. The ones that lost our dignity, are now trying to recover theirs by attack our current President.
