Ha ha, Senior... Had an instructor at ALS who was very particular about foul language. Its just funny to me to hear a SNCO use that kind of language...

Well, I believe that a well-placed profanity elevates a statement to its proper level of understanding. As long as one isn't cursing AT someone, I see nothing wrong with it. Cursing TO is different than cursing AT.
Also, I was in the Army first. There was a difference between, "Private, get your e-tool." and "Holy sh*t, Private, we haven't got all d@mned day. Get your f*cking e-tool yesterday." There was an expectation of motivation on the second delivery. :)

I could not agree more. There is a definite "art" in using profanity. I am lucky because I am in the Infantry and I think they understand profanity better than plain English.
You can bring laughter, tears, terror and of course inspiration with well placed profanity.

I have been in for a long time and ever since it was outlawed I have been lobbying to get the dueling law revoked.
I mean how cool would it be to walk up to another CSM, take off my gloves, slap him in the face and challenge him to a duel. Of course it would have to be with the old school flint and ball one shot pistols and, if both parties missed you could either re-duel or settle it with sabers. Just think of the ability to unclog the promotion system.

Sometimes I wonder if lashing will come in as punishment? I've though about it, and if I can take 3 lashings instead of losing my pay I may choose lashings. Do it on a Friday so you have the weekend to recover.

I was raised when corporal punishment was socially acceptable. I am a firm believer that it can be effective in certain situations but, it would never fly in the military.

CSM Oldsen, you're probably right about that. Under some extreme circumstances it would work, even in the military. But from how we are today, the chances of that being approved is slim to none. But, just a thought..

SPC Bowen, love the idea though have you seen lashings? Fairly certain it will take quite a bit longer than a weekend to recover, even from 3 of them.

Are you f'n serious?! Holy s@$t! Just kidding. I knew that one actually. I'll kiss the hand of anyone who is innocent. I must say that learning to hold back on the swearing also adds to the ability to hold back on the anger. (At least in my case) Being a mud roller for a long time taught me words I didn't even know existed...lol. At NTC, I was a "safety kill" for "excessive profanity." Times have really changed in the military. And that's no s*@t!
