Good R.E.D. Friday Maj William W. 'Bill' Price and I believe that the more Planets that are found to be in the ideal "Goldilocks Zone of their Star, we will find life, not like ours, perhaps, but life... On some we actually might find intelligent life either like life at the beginning of the Earth or life so far advanced that we will stay away from them for obvious reasons... Then again we just may find a planet the likes of which resemble Earth so closely that we could continue the human species there... It won't happen in my life, but I am the optimist who believes it will happen at some point... Great APOD share, Bill!

Great chart. Another argument against the M stars- their habitability zone is so close the planets in it would likely be gravitationally locked, like our Moon, the same side always facing in. For a planet that is the kiss of death, water will vaporize on the sunny side, and winds will blow it to the dark side where it falls as snow and remains locked up there forever.

Fascinating stuff Maj William W. 'Bill' Price and one hubby and I had a discussion about because of a previous Discover magazine article. I don't think we have the only one but, we may not be on the same "time cycle"
