Capt Dwayne Conyers So...I don't understand how Bernie was able to get him out of his medical debt...second of all since he's a Navy Veteran...he should go to the VA....I do...they pay for EVERYTHING....so he should go and NEVER have any Medical bills again. I'll go and read the article in a bit and come back and re-comment.

Great!!!! Now you and I will have to pay his and everybody’s medical, educational and who knows what ever other debt.
These people trying to make this country communist or socialist is not pretty. I lived under communism for 23 years and it was not fun. I joined the military and fought to prevent communism to take a hold here and will continue to do so. I don’t like communism or socialism and therefore moved to the US. Let the ones that like these political systems move to Venezuela or Cuba or some other God forsaken communist country!!!

MSG Glen Miller I have never supported and I will never vote for Bernie Sanders but I’m honest enough that if he helped this man out, I’ll give him credit for it. And since this article has zero to do with socialism or Sanders’ politics id like to see the comments stay relevant.

SFC Thomas Foreman I agree, Sanders deserves cudos for putting his weight behind this veteran’s issue. I do like to differ about the article not having anything to do with Sanders’ political views. This incident took place at a political rally and Sanders, like any clever politician used this opportunity to his advantage. I would even go so far as to say it looked staged.

MSG Glen Miller you’re free to think it’s staged but unless you have proof I’ve no inclination to believe it. If you’ve been in the military for more than 5 minutes you know this is not just an entirely believable situation, but also very likely. We suck at taking care of people while they serve and pretty much pay them token service once we’ve used them up.

SFC Thomas Foreman I have heard about vets not being taken care of and obviously that’s wrong. You too are free to think that this is/was an entirely very likely situation and just as I don't have proof neither do you. Politicians are crooked, if you haven’t realized yet.
I have absolutely no complaints about how the VA is taking care of this 100% disabled vet or any of the vets I’m in contact with. Isn’t it everyone’s own responsibility to ensure records are up to date? If so, this Navy vet would have realized something was wrong. Just saying!
