“Excise taxes on tobacco, alcohol, and gas are prime examples where the state raises funds to defray the costs associated with product usage,” said the group. “This bill takes this same approach.” the only problem is that those costs are a result of criminal behavior, not caused by law-abiding gun owners who actually purchase the ammo legally, not they don't break into peoples homes to steal it, they don't purchase it from some guy on a street corner right after buying their dope of choice. this is designed to discourage legal sales of ammo to people who are responsible gun owners. if they would actually enforce current gun laws and impose the actual sentences for violating those laws the crime rate would go down and they would all be safer.

Ammunition is already expensive, especially those on a fixed income. The only way to stay proficient with a firearm is to practice. Essentially, you are taxing those that don't normally commit gun violence to make them pay for those that do.not an equitable idea.
