The government cannot and should not be expected to do everything. The veteran is an adult and is ultimately responsible for him or herself.

Thank you, Charlie. I was beginning to think I was the only one that felt that way. There was no such thing when I retired. It took a couple tries before I found employment that met my needs.

Don't get me wrong, I think we should set vets up for success. But there is a difference between setting vets up for success and spoonfeeding them for as long as they want. Success, in large part, requires independence (IMHO), and cannot be achieved through coddling.

This would have been more helpful when I got out. I felt lost and it didn't feel like I had a purpose. It took me a lot to get the civilian world down.
