This is the most adroit and well thought-out defense against the resignation/separations angsts that I have read.

Outstandingly written, and a good challenge to those of us unique individual snowflakes frustrated by the machine (including myself).

I had an old First Sergeant (all great wisdom comes from an old First Sergeant) who had the best line: "jerk your hand out of a bucket of water. That's the same hole you leave in the Army when you go."

Had this been the lead article on the Marine Corps Times, it would be equally well received!

Gee SFC Michael Hasbun , does this discussion have anything to do with another one that discusses a certain Naval Officer who publicly stated why she is resigning her commission?

Regardless of the fact that the article comes from the Duffel Blog, it reeks of truth.

Great post!

It's pretty explicitly in response to that Naval Officer, yeah... It's not so much implied as much as it's announced on a big blinking neon sign..

Exactly. At the end of the day, no one cares why she's resigning her commission. Best of luck in her future endeavors, and that's about it!

Public resignations tend to be "open mouth and remove all doubt" events.
