Mayor states citizens who have concealed carry permits or weapons at home should not defend themselves, but call police instead???????????
It seems that when the police are called and are forced to use violence, then the police are criticized or prosecuted.

Which is what really happens out there. I talked to some of the CPD when based at their airport for my first airline gig. They pretty much say nowadays they will just arrive when the shooting stops to secure the scene for the coroner.
Lets not forget she wants citizens to call the came police they advocated to defund as well.

So, from reading your response I’m not sure if we are in agreement or not. The question was “can you respond to folks taking matters into their own hands in order to protect their community”. You have read into this that she was commenting on self defense, I read it as policing the community. Her mention of the Aubrey case further emphasized “taking matters into your own hands” as attempting to act in the capacity as law enforcement. Also she stated again towards the end of her answer “do not pick up arms and try to be the police. If there is a problem call 911 and the police will respond”.
Since she did not mention someone protecting their life or someone else’s I would have to assume (that word again) that she was not commenting about self defense.

We are only in agreement that police should be called if yours or someone else's life is not in danger.
We disagree on her meaning. This is Chicago and she is a Democrat mayor of the city.
She specifically talked about people having firearms in their homes and businesses and told them to call the police.
I can not locate a single speech of hers that has ever supported self defense.

MSG (Join to see) oh, I dislike her, but still believe she was not talking about self defense. But hey not the first time I was wrong. She is just one of many reasons I no longer live in Illinois.
