I must say, I never gave undies in the Army much thought, save for the day of graduation when the drill sergeant quietly put the garbage can by the door, and one after another--to a man!--everyone dropped their Army issued "Brown Thunders" into it as we walked out the barracks for the last time.

Well Major, more power to ya I guess! ;-)
There was a reason we all ditched our ASAFP. Ours were like cheaply made tighty whities pre-stained brown (I shudder to think that last part may have been done for our convenience, but...). Ha!

I appreciated my desert colored undies. I could run around in my undies and the enemies would never see me.

SGT Dave Tracy - I tell you what. The most liberating feeling is getting behind a tank to take a shower in the desert. I was a master at using 2 liters of water for a shower. My only problem was my feet were always sandy.

I wore civilian undies after basic and AIT, but I always wore them. I remember taking my t shirt off to take a shower in Team Spirit, first time I had an opportunity in two weeks. That thing peeled off.
