I can think of a great many things that matter more than the political ruminations of a MMA fighter..

PO3 Patricia Miner sorry it posted before I finished.

There is a huge difference between holding a campaign event for attendees and tweeting out unsubstantiated venom. One is openly calling itself what it is the other is lack of control on social media. They are two totally different things. You should be able to see that.

There is a difference between informing voters and trying to influence the vote because you believe you're a modern day god. Hollywood and the music industry needs to muzzle themselves. This was NEVER done until twitter and other social media arrived. "Stars" kept their opinions to themselves unless they were at an actual campaign event.

PO3 Patricia Miner - That's not true at all. For one, athletes have been involved in social activism for years.

https://theundefeated.com/features/athletes-and-activism-the-long-defiant-history-of-sports-protests/

Also you can't vote in a reality TV star or other entertainers into office (Trump, Arnold Schwarzenneger, Ronald Reagan, etc) and then say celebrities can't have political opinions. That's not how it works. They vote, they have rights, they can speak their opinions - and people can choose to listen or ignore them.

There have been celebrity activists throughout the years:

Audrey Hepburn
Jane Fonda
Harry Belafonte
Elizabeth Taylor
Bono

That's a few names over the decades who got involved in different forms of activism - all reaching back into some political issue.

It's not new. You just can see more of it - just like everything else - because of social media and 24/7 news.

SFC (Join to see) you're talking apples and oranges. Activism is not the same as blasting out an opinion laced with untruths and profanity and call that activism. It just is not. The dinners to raise money for a candidate and similar are find with me. They are up front about what they are doing and not trying to manipulate twitter followings.

Interesting you mention Jane Fonda. She was considered a traitor and blacklisted for decades.

Audrey Hepburn worked with UNICEF a totally different thing.

Bono raised money for depressed countries. Not the same.

Belafonte civil rights movement, anti-apartheid. Not the same thing.

Elizabeth Taylor AIDS. Not the same thing.

Politics is not activism. Someone's past work has nothing to do with them serving in the government. It does disqualify them and it doesn't mean you can attack them for that work. It does not open them up to any more any more than a career politician.

You really need to study civics, the Constitution and politics of past eras. I lived through them, studied them in high school and college and still read about them today. If you can't differentiate between activism and irresponsible tweets you have a lot to learn.

You are right. Unfortunately, I suspect nothing will bridge the true gap until Jesus returns; which He will!!!

If "Jesus" showed up right now, Republicans would call him a socialist and kick him out of the room. Let's be realistic.
