Vey similar arguments were once used to argue that minorities and women had no place in the military either..
We're supposed to be better than these old superstitions and prejudices. I'd much rather fight alongside a Trans Soldier than a bigot any day of the week.

The problem with the trans soldier isn't who they want to sleep with or how they want to dress. The problem is all the medicines they have to have, and surgeries, that the VA, who is already stretched, or the Military, if on active duty, and thus, the tax payer will have to pay for. They are hormones for life, that is a lot of medical care and a lot of money over time. That's just my thoughts on it. It's not, can they do the job, (which is often a problem due to the havoc that the hormones wreak on their bodies,) so much as, how much is it going to cost us for their free medical care? If I tried to get into the military with a known expensive and problematic from the down time viewpoint, like Crohn's, which can be treated with medicine and surgery....they wouldn't let me, (I know , they wouldn't let my son). So, why is it any different?
