Everybody is always ready to fight the last war. Getting ready to fight the next one will require some real outside-the-box thinking and the leadership to travel down that counter-intuitive rabbit hole as far as it takes.

Yep. I love the stupidity evident in gun-grabbers to the effect of "What could any citizens with rifles and pistols do against an army with tanks, planes, and artillery?"
They think in terms of pitched battles of the WWII era, which all major powers have learned is no longer what we must prepare for. What lessons are to be learned from British, French, Russian, and American experiences with guerilla warfare? I refer them to Michael Collins, "The Urban Guerilla" and his "12 Apostles" who freed Ireland after 700 years of failure using "conventional warfare".

Very much agree! We lost the edge and still are not with an ADA tactical aspect that will allow for defense against even insurgents with them. We got lost in our own hype and missed others were watching and copying how we used drones - and then coming up with their own tactics. Import to read what happened to Armenia this Fall!!
