I would like to see a demonstration of how they went about loading a 20" iron ball.

Very Carefully! I would imagine it hand some manually lifted carriage?

I've seen the Rodman gun at Sandy Hook quite often, since I live in Monmouth County about 5 miles from its location.
One of these days I'll have to drive over to Brooklyn to see the other half of that duo.
