There is a key. If the family has good communications, then probably a court would not have to be involved. But in far too many instances the family does not.
My cousin was molested by an uncle. Her mother refused to believe it so it did not stop. She got pregnant. Her mother kicked her out. She died coming back from Mexico after getting a back ally abortion. Now, this was 1957 and things were different then, but not a lot.
There are reasons a young woman may need to take such drastic steps as an abortion. And, there may be reasons she cannot tell her family.

Aww are you mad that if you lived in Indiana you can't make your daughter have a pregnancy she doesn't want? So sad.

Based on the SCOTUS ruling on the Louisiana abortion law, and the fact that this case went to SCOTUS and was sent back to the 7th Circuit based on that ruling, the 7th Circuit made the only decision that followed the law.

Typical exaggerated nonsense from the "kill the Baby" crowd, it's either "Kill the unborn!" or "Women are slaves!" Nonsense. There are MANY ways to avoid pregnancy, and any woman can get them for free. There are even morning-after pills which are also free. The best way for a woman to "control her own body" is to not get pregnant if she doesn't want a baby. Killing an innocent unborn human being is the LAST option, not the first.

MAJ Hugh Blanchard - it's no more exaggerated than the BS you posted prior to that, which is why I phrased it like I did. Second, there are all sorts of ways that women can get pregnant when they are trying not to, because every single type of contraception can fail. That doesn't include cases of rape or incest, and so on. Third, the Plan B pill runs from $11 to $50 dollars each, and are not free. Finally, men shouldn't have any say in this, it's not their body.
