It's even better (or worse) than the article states. Both women were dominatrixes, and in the appropriate costume of corsets and high heels, while the priest was apparently still dressed from the waist up. The altar area was well lit for filming and that's apparently what was happening, as one of the women complained that all of her camera gear had been seized. The church was not open to the public, and the passerby had to go pass a fence and walk up to a window to see anything. Both women traveled to Louisiana for the meeting, one from Seattle, one from Atlanta. All three parties were consenting adults.

That's what really upset the archbishop.

Almost no mention was made of the other priest from that same church who was removed for molesting a minor. Pat Wattigny admitted to the molestation, and was also removed from his position as a high school chaplain at Pope John Paul II High School. It seems that he was caught sending inappropriate texts to a student.

But the archbishop's outrage is over the consensual sex between three adults...

What was that line? Oh yeah, “boys will be boys, it’s just locker room talk”.

Of course. Pedophiles are ok apparently in the Catholic church.

Meh. At least he wasn't raping kids. Consenting adults having sex - nothing wrong with that. They should have probably just not done it on the altar. Maybe the sacristy? The room the priest gets ready in. Google says that's the sacristy.

I heard about this. Thanks for the actual article so I was able to read a little about it; a very little because the article doesn’t provide some facts and context about what happened here: A Catholic priest “has sex with anyone on an alter in a Church”. The article goes on to say that legal charges against the people are just a: “thinly veiled attempt to regulate the morality of private individuals”. Then it seems you don’t understand how the Catholic Church can have a visceral (I had to look up the word :) response, and go on to speak about Church sex abuse crimes for decades, trying to make an equivalent action, that is an excuse for what took place.

While I am not a Church Official please let me try to explain in my meager way. Churches are “private property” with certain rights that nobody, not even Priests, have a right to enter and abuse and/or do whatever they want. Without going into details that would last from here to eternity, Catholic Priests take vows in general for the good of the general population and the Church. Needless to say, having sex on the alter isn’t in keeping with these vows. It doesn’t have to do with consenting adults, past crimes of the Church, or any such issues. To truly draw a parallel about a Priest who took his vows: and then has sex on an alter would be about the same as a military person (after taking their oath) providing our nuclear codes to the Chinese, of maybe a day care provider (who has professional standards) having rough sex with someone where our young children could see. What harm was done in these situations? Only a vow/oath was broken. Well in my opinion if millions die in a nuclear war, or 20 children’s minds are poisoned at a day care, or a Priest has sex on an alter that allows atheist and/or secular haters to spread their hate and dissent against an overall good organization… if any of these potential actions take place because a person broke their vows: then that person needs to rot in jail of worse; this also goes for the criminal Catholic people who committed crimes in the past, and the officials/people who covered up for them (nobody gets a free pass).

Sadly, I view all this publicity as secular and atheist propaganda meant to eventually destroy all religions. It’s a pretty sad world we live in that allows these hating people to spread their hate under the guise of Free Speech. MHO

PS: I have some atheist friends in my personal life. We get along very well. When asked about situations like this they tell me they have no opinion and don’t care because it doesn’t affect them. To me it appears we need to separate what I will name regular atheist and secular people (for lack of a better name) who are respectful; from hating atheist and secular people who, for real or perceived reasons, hate religion and will do and/or say anything to destroy the concept.

Read Pickett's comment...

That same church had a priest removed for admitting to molesting a child but the archbishop didn't condemn that or make a statement he was outraged about it, but did comment on this incident.

Yeah it was stupid to film it in a church but no one was harmed. Nothing was destroyed. It's not something to be upset about. Especially not more upset than having pedophiles in your parish.

SFC (Join to see) - That I said "no one gets a free pass" and explained in detail how people were harmed by this action appears to have been lost on you. I could have gone on about a lot of other stuff, but at the end of the day I believe it boils down to what I identified. One accepts the Truth, or doesn't.

Also the abstinence thing for priests is stupid. In the early days of Christianity and even Catholicism priests could marry. They stopped it because the Church realized they would gain a priests land, money, etc if he had no family when he died. That's legit the only reason they stopped letting priests marry. They still let deacons marry, they need to let priests marry again.

A priest having sex is not akin to someone passing nuclear codes to a foreign adversary. Omfg. Dramatic. Nor is it the same if a daycare teacher had sex in a daycare while kids were there.

No one was there. It was not during service. Someone had to go up to the window after apparently going through a fence to see it.

I'm not saying the church was wrong to fire the priest. It's wrong for the archbishop to be MORE upset at THIS than his pedo priest.

It's wrong that more Catholics are upset at THIS than knowing there are priests abusing kids. That's my point.

What the actual f*? Propaganda to destroy religion? Hating atheists? You're a damn drama queen. Seriously.

Religion is already on the decline and atheists don't have to do anything to destroy it. I'm not an atheist either. I don't need to label myself. Sorry.

Have a great day.

SFC (Join to see) - Again, you bring in your opinion about priests being able to marry and have sex, and that more Catholics are upset over this alter desecration than past priest pedophiles. For the first: that is our religion if you choose to follow it, for the second you are just plain wrong. Most Catholics are equally outraged at both. Can you understand this? Does this bother you? If so, then maybe you need to reflect on you thought process pertaining to ours a bit more.

The bottom line is if you don’t believe and follow the Catholic Religion, why do you care? Why do you attack, attack, attack! That children are being abused? The children being abused in foster care sponsored by the state is at a much higher rate than in the catholic Church. Children being abused in high crime and poverty inner cities are off the charts with children literally waking up in feces from neglect. I don’t see you writing about them. Don’t you care?

For some reason you seem to only care about what you perceive to be Catholic transgressions. Why is that? I learned a long time ago I am free to move and associate with who I will, and not associate with who I disagree as long as they are not bothering me. That’s the beauty about living in our Country! Life is too short to be constantly fighting and hating on others. I hope you find that inner balance and peace that I believe we all need. One last personal comment: Clean up the language a little and people will take you more seriously.
