Good morning, Rallypoint. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is titled "Animation: Black Hole Star Shredder." 1SG Steven Imerman must have known APOD was headed this way today...but can we be certain? <sarc> This 52-second video clip assembles much of what we have observed with respect to black holes: gravity, accretion discs, lensing, relativistic jets...and puts them together for an overall image of the physics involved. The creepy-sounding music seems to work quite well too.
