SGT David A. 'Cowboy' Groth - It was a big portion of my life for the better part of 15 years. My section was responsible for evaluating all environmental clearances for our projects when I worked for PADEP-BAMR, or anything that our funding went into.

SFC (Join to see) - Fascinating stuff. I had two quarters of GIS in the early 90s. It was amazing then what it could do and be used to represent in many layers then, probably moreso these days. We had one of the large globes at our local Natural History Museum about 10 years ago, that could be used to show so much. It was basically 3D GIS. The people who created it had it touring museums for a time. All of us volunteers played around with the tablets to learn how to show visitors all the features. Air traffic was a big favorite - current, and through time. If I can find an article about the globe I will post it. I've since seen websites with the same features.

I agree this is really neat stuff. I believe the accuracy had really improved to much, back in the 90's if you got within a few feet you were good, today it is survey grade accuracy. Obviously the pictures are much more robust. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
