Good. I want civil police, not gestapo.

Didn’t SenatorScott have a previous police reform proposal that was discarded? Why the change in attitude in his favor?

His police reform bill from June 2020 was extremely weak compared to others. Mild incentives existed, but no mandates were involved (e.g. chokeholds, etc.). It also did not end qualified immunity that currently protects police from criminal misconduct charges while on-duty

LTC Eugene Chu - Scott’s bill was killed by a Democratic filibuster. Scott’s bill was bipartisan.

LTC Eugene Chu - chokeholds banned unless the officer's life is in danger? isn't that what their service weapon is for? how is a chokehold going to keep an assailant from killing you? takes much longer to be effective. i know. maybe the officer won't be able to reach his pistol. then, fight for your life until assistance arrives

the change in attitude came after he gave the response to the President's address. i'm sure it was written by a select few in the republican leadership, not his own words
