A VISIT TO ASTEROID BENNU!!!
Good Memorial Day Monday, my Brothers and Sisters!
The United States via NASA sent a spacecraft to the Asteroid Bennu, which entered our solar system within a distance this spacecraft could travel... It's purpose was to image this Asteroid and return samples to Earth for analysis. That feat is near completion as the spacecraft is due to return to Earth with its cache of collected Asteroid material in 2023... In honor of all those Military Men and Women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the benefit of mankind's FREEDOM, I humbly dedicate this Post!
Here is the description by NASA Goddard:
OSIRIS-REx has imaged Bennu in higher resolution than we have Earth and our own Moon. Since its arrival at the asteroid on Dec. 3, 2018, the spacecraft has discovered boulders the size of buildings, and imaged the surface down to 5 centimeter-per-pixel resolution. Its cameras captured stunning footage of the sample collection event on Oct. 20, 2020. OSIRIS-REx imaged Bennu for the last time on April 7, 2021, and will return to Earth in 2023 with samples it collected from the asteroid's surface.

Wow...whenever we get samples from these objects they teach us something new...can't wait!

I am with you on this, Lt Col Charlie Brown! Bennu came into our Solar System from somewhere in the Universe...so these samples should give us further insight as to what planetary debris consists of and if it is the same type of material that make up the Earth, moon and other planetary type strata...

THat is a great question, CWO3 Dennis M. - I hope that these samples indicate that the component chemistry is the same on this Asteroid which formed in the vastness of the Universe, is the same as that of the chemistry of the Earth, Moon and other debris we have accumulated from meteor impacts on Earth... That will tell us that the vastness of space and its galaxies are of the the same source... However, if the chemistry is different, it begs a whole new series of questions, which, as yet, we do not have answers for...
