JBS, the world's largest meat processor, confirms it paid a ransom of $11 million to cyberattackers.
CEO Andre Nogueira of JBA USA called it a "very difficult decision to make."
"However, we felt this decision had to be made to prevent any potential risk for our customers."
JBS is based in Brazil, but last week's hack targeted servers in the U.S. and Australia.
The FBI says REvil, a Russian-speaking gang, was responsible.

This is an international threat. Why hasn't Cyber Command taken any action to neutralize it? I know it's not an easy problem, but it's right in the center of their wheelhouse, or should be. Are we really supposed to believe that the advanced cyberweapons don't exist to stop this before it happens and eliminate the capability to do it again? Regardless of whether they don't have the capability or failed to use it, it's a huge fail that has been repeated far too many times over the last year, and that's just the ones that made it to the media.

No, PO1 William "Chip" Nagel, I don't profess to know anything about what Cyber command is doing, and anyone who served any time in the military knows operations can never be guaranteed to 100% success. Maybe they've stopped millions of these attacks and the only ones we hear about are the few they missed. Maybe, but not putting any money on it. Sure, hacking the payment to retrieve some or all of the ransom would be a fine consolation prize, like fourth place in the Olympics.
However, anyone who thinks this was more likely under the previous administration than the current one already tore up their reality checks...
