Why do families keep such dogs when they have toddlers in the home.

Everyone I have spoken with say pits are great family animals and it is how you raise them. With these stories I think parents should be safe and wait until the kids are old enough to protect themselves.

MAJ Byron Oyler - I’ve had Pit bulls, but my children were older, in their teens.

MAJ Byron Oyler PO1 H Gene Lawrence “several studies' findings: In 2016, family dogs inflicted 45% of all dog bite fatalities and family pit bulls accounted for 86% of these deaths, according to Dogsbite.org. And a five-year review of dog bite injuries from the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia found that more than half (more than 51%) of attacks were from pit bulls. The study, which was published in the 2009 journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, also found that 9% of bite injuries were from Rottweilers and 6% were from pit bull-Rottweiler mixes.”

This is tragic and the parents should be held accountable because they failed to provide a safe environment for the child.
