Popular Mechanics shares an interesting look at the history of the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter. If you have served in the US Army in the last 50 years then chances are you have taken a ride or two on a Black Hawk. The helicopter isn’t going away any time soon as the military plans to use it for a few more decades.

I never flew any military aircraft, in spite of working at a flight school.

GySgt Jack Wallace - No, i never even touched one. Thy only offered me rides with student piolots. I told them if they could find real pilot, I would go but I'd been in the Air Traffic Control Tower once too often while watching students drifting too close to the glass to go. I was there, exchanging video monitors for the Weather displays.

You missed out SPC Terrell, the Black Hawk was a great ride, got go up in one just before I was retired, we had a joint training with the Army at Camp Pendleton in 1979.

Never flew in one but have seen them 8n action a few times. Always made me want to fly.

Had a ride or two in the UH-1, wish the Black Hawk had been around a few years earlier. As a Marine most of my rides came with UH-47 or 53 Stallion.
