Very good article. The question of why this has become the hot button topic it is now is rooted, in my opinion, by the growth of socialism, which wants a defenseless, prostrate, populace that can not stop the implementation of ever more Marxist doctrine. We become much easier to control when we no longer have the availability of self protection.

The problem is interpretation. For example, in the statement: Life Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness, newcomers feel using other's possessions (land) will make them Happy.

Thank you my staunch second-amendment advocate friend SGT (Join to see) for posting. There is a long history of authoritarian governments confiscating guns from our own revolutionary period, to highland warfare in Scotland, to more recent Nazi confiscation of weapons from organizations they did not approve of, etc.
