Good suggestions. Not original, but leadership precepts bear repeating often. An anecdote: soon after retiring, I landed a new career as Divisional Labor Relations Manager for a large retail company. A few months later, my boss flew in for a divisional visit and a "how's it going". He opened our pertinent conversation by saying " You know, the problems we have hiring veterans (what! It's a PROBLEM?) Is that you expect to solve every problem and get things done. (Apparently, one of our unions had called him directly) Sometimes if you just sit on an issue, it goes away." He was rewarded with my best non commental grunt while thinking "Not my experience". I never followed that advice, and did very well because of it (I think :-)

Too many managers use the the "sit on it" solution. They are not good managers in my opinion.
