I believe a the label "Monty Pythonesque" can be applied to a lot of the things the Dems are doing in the last 15 years.

the people being killed, maimed, and terrorized are being killed, maimed, and terrorized by mostly white officers. i don't think anyone truly wants the police "defunded". instead, they want the police to uphold their oaths and treat every group the same

What BS! Police killed 14 unarmed blacks in 2019. That isn’t even a good month in Chicago. 73% of shooting victims are Black. https://www.manhattan-institute.org/police-black-killings-homicide-rates-race-injustice. The reason, I believe the reason for the turn around is there was a shooting by a swanky Restaurant in DC that “scared “ wealthy and connected patrons.

LTC David Brown - all due respect Colonel, but the police don't have a good reputation in their interactions with minority groups lately. is it really too much to ask that anyone who wears that badge, whether for 50 years or one day, treat everyone the same? Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Treat them the same as they would treat a family member.

Sorry John, but the facts don't support that assertion. The people being killed, maimed, and terrorized are largely being killed, maimed, and terrorized by people from their own neighborhood.
And I'm pretty sure it was Ilhan Oman who not only called for defunding the police, but actually dismantling the Minneapolis police dept..

Regardless of their reputation, SrA John Monette, remember to crunch the numbers. A decade ago, it was considered alarming (at least to libertarians) that fully 10 percent of homicides in California were committed by police.
Nationally, the actual numbers for police-involved fatalities are slightly less dire. Against a backdrop of 20,000 total murders in 2020, the Washington Post reports fewer than 1,000 police-involved fatalities so far this year, and the majority of them seem unfortunately unavoidable.
Fatalities is admittedly not a great measure, but a minority of stupid cops seen doing stupid things still stand out in everyone's awareness more than the quieter competence of their peers.
