The question in my mind is, does the Taliban want to make our evacuation look like a partially failed operation? I have read in some cases safe passage to the airfield is predicated on Taliban actions. We need their cooperation, but I have no clue what their posture will be.

The Afghans gave safe passage to the British Army and dependents and massacred them all save one on a mountainous pass.
