UT fans are still living in the past when they used to be good over a decade ago, and seemed to have a hard time realizing that UT football is barely average anymore.

UT is improving, SSG (Join to see), and I think they’ll continue to do so. However, the display from the fans this past Saturday was inexcusable.

When they beat Alabama and Georgia then we can talk about improving. Since Fulmer left as coach they have not even come close to being a contender.

This wasn't about the game. Sure, losing made it worse. But this was 100% about Kiffin. And he knows that, despite his lies.

Not AT ALL condoning the actions, which were out of line. Just setting the record straight.

Well, SFC Casey O'Mally, I’ll agree and disagree. Kiffin knows how to get under people’s skin, and does it with a vengeance. He’s got bad history at Tennessee, and everyone knows it.
However, the poor sportsmanship event occurred when the Vols failed to convert on a fourth down play in the last seconds of the game. The UT fans didn’t like the call even though video replay clearly supported the initial call of the field officials. That’s when the pandemonium occurred, and Kiffin can hardly be blamed for that.
I’m an Auburn graduate and a lifelong supporter of the SEC and I am really disappointed that such an event occurred on SEC turf, especially UT. I live in Tennessee and sent my daughter to UT. I absolutely didn’t want anything like this to happen anywhere, but especially at an SEC venue. It’s an embarrassment to the SEC and I would hope that the Vol nation is embarrassed also.
I hope Sankey fines UT hundreds of thousands of dollars. Holy smoke, Auburn was fined $250,000 for fans storming the field after a game. This event interrupted an ongoing game, disrupted play (twenty minutes, I think) and people could easily have been injured. Even the UT cheerleaders, pom-pon girls and the band left the field for the sake of safety.
Sankey needs to send a message that such behavior won’t be tolerated and I hope the message is expensive.

LTC Stephen C. - I live on the TN border and work in TN. UT (and the Preds / Titans) is pretty much all I hear about, sports-wise. Not a UT fan nor do I really follow them, but I hear enough on the radio and through scuttlebutt.

I view this much more as a scenario like the BLM Looting or the Rodney King looting. Bad actors were looking for an excuse. People in that crowd were ready to act out violently and stupidly because of their INTENSE hatred for Kiffin. It was being held mostly in check while they had a chance for winning - then they would have stormed the field and (maybe) taken a run at Kiffin physically. Once that opportunity was gone, they used that as an excuse to vent their idiocy.

Of course, I could be wrong, it has happened (many times) before (just ask my wife!). But that is my read, and why I said it is 100% about Kiffin. The "bad call" was just the excuse.

As for the rest, I agree with you whole-heartedly. This type of behavior is reprehensible and should not be tolerated. I would love to see UT going to the security footage and start expelling students that can be clearly identified. In the meantime, yes, the SEC and/or NCAA should be levying some hefty fines.

Excellent observations, SFC Casey O'Mally, and they make sense. I’ll agree to agree!
BTW, I’ve been married 41+ years, so I’m totally understanding of the right/wrong thing!
