PFC David Foster - living on welfare is now a life style. I worked from the time I was 12 to just 6 years ago. I never received welfare, food stamps etc. etc. neither have my children.

They are just expanding on something that works great, public schools, it works great for kids between 6 to 18, why not expand it for kids a little younger? Have you looked at how expensive child care is, parts single parents especially can't afford to pay child care and run a household to be able to work? We are just saying the same thing over and over. I get it, you don't like the programs.

LTC David Brown - Nor have I or anyone in my family, but I am compassionate to those who need it. Unfortunately, we have doctors that bend the rules and let people in without really needing it, but should we quit it for all the people that do need it because of a few bad apples?

That's great, PFC David Foster - being compassionate to those who need it is exactly where most of us are. Those people respond by responsibly meeting the individual needs they see. Unfortunately, the government absolutely must not be the source of that because it rarely acts responsibly or individually - it uses one size fit all approaches. That hurts more people than it helps, both those from whom it is forcibly taken and those to whom it is irresponsibly given. It's not the doctors bending the rules - it's the government forcing them to take everyone and people demanding what they want whether appropriate or not. When the entitlement mentality becomes normalized, personal motivation is lost. Yes, the government should stop this completely, return the resources to the people who earned it, then let compassionate individuals meet the needs they see. Until the "Great Society" reforms designed to turn large swaths of the electorate into Democrat voters were implemented, that is precisely how charity worked - by individuals helping others voluntarily, often as a part of their faith expressions. We should return to that model, but it will be almost impossible because the reforms did exactly what they intended. Nothing short of a wholesale reawakening or total economic collapse is likely to make those changes possible, and I seriously hope it won't be the latter. Unfortunately, the former is the only sure way to avoid the latter, and that seems unlikely also.

Because they have nothing between the ears. In order for us to become even Socialist would require the expenditure of trillions of dollars to develop the infrastructure. You'll hear people say we are socialist already......they are equally stupid and have never even researched the subject with any level of depth. Almost everything the United States does is based on Private Industry. From our Health Insurance Industry which makes a mere $31 Billion a year in profit (only a 3.8% margin....about the cost of capital) insuring between 91 and 92 of the population of the United States in one form or another. We have liberals foaming at the mouth pointing to the tiny 8% underinsured and attempting to guilt the rest of us into a massively inefficient, much more expensive, and bureaucratic system that everyone would hate. Why not just target and address the underinsured vs scraping our existing system? Got to ask the Liberals that one, I can't explain it. Anyways back to Socialism and Communism, our banking system and Treasury Dept are largely privately run with highly efficient private IT systems the government could never hope to duplicate. Our privately run freight railroad system is the most efficient in the world and the envy of the world. Our airline and Interstate Highway system a close second. All that would be scrapped or nationalized under socialism or communism. Thats just transportation and health care. I could go on and on into other areas but I think two subject areas are enough to prove the point that even consideration of socialism and communism are non starters.

They don't, not in America, what they like is Democratic Socialism, and they like it because it doesn't make any sense for health insurance companies to make trillions of dollars to keep us healthy.

MSG Joseph Cristofaro - Why, we are nothing like them, why not send them to Finland instead, where minimum is about 20 dollars an hour, there is government run health care, the people get 30 days a year paid vacation, and everyone is happy??? We don't want a Socialist government, we want to expand the already social elements of government. Public Schools - add 0 to 6 year olds so parents of young kids can go back to work. More vacation for middle and lower income workers. Just basically expand the VA into health care for all. Put the trillion dollar health insurance companies out of business. They have CEO getting 50 million dollar bonuses for leading teams of lawyers to bankrupt citizens... It makes no sense. IMO.

MSG Joseph Cristofaro - You need to look at their take home pay, they earn twice as much as Americans, so their take home pay is great, and they don't have to buy health insurance. This propaganda is all nonsense written by people who don't want the working class in America to have a better life. Go make some Finnish friends on a Social Media site and ask them personally if they are happy with their 30 days paid vacation and 20 dollars an hour minimum wage, and great healthcare... I've been to Finland and talked to the people, and Holland and Germany and England, and Belgium...

MSG Joseph Cristofaro - Yes, I was in the military. I am aware of all that stuff, Finland is not a Socialist country. Why don't people in the military think citizens deserve just as much vacation time as they do? All people get 30 days' pay vacation just about everywhere in Europe, even the poor countries like Bulgaria.

For what it's worth, insurance companies don't keep anyone healthy. For that matter, neither does the traditional medicine industry. Rarely to either of those cover you until you are sick, then give you chemicals and surgeries to remove symptoms without fixing the root causes. The whole system is broken, but there are "radicals" who are more focused on better nutrition and health.
