Don't know how it got there but the diver is a brave man to do that to give closure to some family.

Not really a "diver." His rating (MOS) is AST, Aviation Survival Technician. I believe that his rate (paygrade) is E-5.

That was my thoughts exactly. CG Divers don’t deploy from helicopters. Rescue Swimmers do (AST rated).

The US Coast Guard does this every day. Very few people even know anything about the Coast Guard.
