I have learned if I fight for the soldiers and they know I care about them, they will accept bad news more readily.

Sometimes I will join the soldiers in funeral details, gate guard, and spring cleanup. I wanted them to see the old man suffering with them.

I don’t look at it as suffering sir, I see it as doing our duty.

I've worked in these situations. It's tough on everyone.

Any new policy implementation is difficult, if the leaders don’t map everything out properly it just gets that much worse when the sparks hit the road when implementation happens.

I agree with you. Just recently retired, I spent 54 years in the drug business (legal). Often, over the years, such cautions have been suggested and viewed as negativity rather than astute analysis.

It always amuses me that “the chosen” in any organization are the only ones that have poetic a license to establish policy; and they take it personally when the unintended consequences come into focus. Wow! 54 years. Congratulations! You deserve a great retirement.

Thanks. If the government didn't require me to begin withdrawing my funds for retirement at 72, I'd still be working. There was talk early this year they were going to move that goalpost this year to 75, alas and unsurprisingly they failed to do that
