Personally I believe big business is starting to do this to pay lower wages, and foster an atmosphere where it will be more difficult for an employee to jump ship and move to another company.

I think a college degree is important...it shows the prospective employer that you can finish something, once you start it. My college degree got me interviews, when I wasn't given a chance to be looked at before.

I tend to agree with you. Looking at my grandchildren today I see they are more interested in the trades. There is nothing wrong with that, there's a lot of money in plumbing, auto repair, etc.
