Biden says Putin "cannot remain in power" during speech in Poland

President Joe Biden said during a speech in Poland on Saturday that Russian President Vladimir Putin "cannot remain in power." But moments later, the White House appeared to walk back his comment, with an official saying he wasn't talking about regime change.
"The President's point was that Putin cannot be allowed to exercise power over his neighbors or the region," a White House official said. "He was not discussing Putin's power in Russia, or regime change."
In a statement to The Associated Press, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, "It's not up to the president of the U.S. and not up to the Americans to decide who will remain in power in Russia."
"Only Russians, who vote for their president, can decide that," Peskov added. "And of course it is unbecoming for the president of the U.S. to make such statements."

President Joe Biden said during a speech in Poland on Saturday that Russian President Vladimir Putin "cannot remain in power." But moments later, the White House appeared to walk back his comment, with an official saying he wasn't talking about regime change.

Of course the right will come down on him for stating the obvious.

But I think it is an obvious statement. But having said it on the world stage sets up and reinforces what Putin has been saying to his own people. If he said at a political rally or fund raiser, it would be less usable by Putin. But on the world stage it makes it worse as that can be construed as doctrine.

This is another case where Biden spoke his feelings and not what his Whitehouse staff recommended, SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL! I listened to His speech and it was a forceful and emotion packed speech. However, He caused more possible harm than good, calling Putin a butcher and then strongly indicating that Putin should no longer be in power... Although I concur with what He said, those on the Global Stage were nervous about the possibility of Putin entertaining the use of a nuclear bomb, tactical or otherwise... We live in tough times these days... Just saying...
