SPC Kevin Ford - If the Feds would take on one of their primary responsibilities of protecting U.S. soil, Texas may not have to use the NG to help support safety for Texas residents. Today Border Patrol reports the capture of several MS-13 and 18 gang members along with a multiple rapist that was deported multiple times and has returned. Where is the outrage for the hundreds of children being killed by drugs that cross the border? In Arizona, during the last two weeks, we have had two LEOs killed by illegals. Are those deaths ok because they work as LEOs? Should we not ask about the rights of the citizens of the U.S.A.? To make future events worse we have no notion who represents the gotaways that cross the border.

It would be great if we could stop all crime, I agree it would be great if we could. How we deal with it is always a question of cost and reward. Perhaps this is the best way to deal with illegal border crossings, I don't know. But it does seem clear that using the NG to do it will have consequences.

I live in Texas, and I've come across several of the NG members who have deployed for this crisis. First, yes, not many are excited about the work, but not because of the reason you suggest. Their frustration is that their role is strictly a supporting element when it comes to the border crossings. They have no power to arrest these individuals and can only do so as an assist to TX DPS when Texas laws are broken. So, there's a whole lot of nothing they can do because The Biden admin does not allow them to directly collaborate with the federal border patrol units. Furthermore, federal authorities are prevented from doing their job effectively, they are criticized for the manner in which they do their job, and there is no support coming from the Biden administration. Biden is skirting his job and it is widely apparent here in Texas.

Most recently 55 people died of heat, packed into a semi-truck, as they're being trafficked into and through the US.
Next we've leaned two Guatemalan nationals set out to carry out a mass shooting this last 4th of July for unknown reasons at this time. But they were confirmed to be illegally in this nation, and they had already been deported multiple times.
"Since the launch of Operation Lone Star, multi-agency efforts have led to more than 236,000 migrant apprehensions, along with almost 14,000 criminal arrests — and more than 11,300 felony charges. Over 3,800 weapons and almost $30 million in currency have been seized. In the fight against fentanyl, DPS has seized over 300 million lethal doses throughout the state." - TX.gov

The fact is, what is going on in Texas is a crisis, and one which is what our National Guard assets are meant to handle when our other agencies are overwhelmed. But Biden is allowing this to happen, enabling it, and essentially, encouraging it. He and the DHS leadership need to get off their ass and deal with this problem. Furthermore, Congress also needs to get off their ass and pass clear and concise immigration and border laws to deal with this problem. I look forward to the potential red wave that is to come, and that success better be followed up with dealing with this crap.
