SFC (Join to see) I have had discussions in my classroom about inventers who are African American and I always mention the traffic signal. I didn't know he also invented the gas mask. Learn something new every day! Excellent post!

Thank you. I often find stuff like that and ask why we didn't learn about it in school. In our generation it was because of racism and prejudice. Now that we are past that I ask the same question why and have no answer other than what C. Mason Weaver’s book, “It’s OK To leave the Plantation” taught me. I just can’t understand how people would follow leaders who are trying to keep them down and depend, not successful and independent.

SFC (Join to see) I had never heard of the modern traffic signal inventor. The video tells of Edison being a prolific, zealous and jealous inventor. After his multitude of life changing inventions, his need to be the ‘star’ inventor of the day was surprising to me. Amazon Prime’s stock of interesting documentaries
has me captivated.

Thanks Chuck. Yes, Edison was the kind of person who needed to be constantly in the limelight. I believe he screwed a lot of people in the process.

CSM Charles Hayden - The German influence on our education was very strong in the late 1800's to the mid 19oo's, and even now to some degrees. Think about what was happening in Germany during this time period. Our academic crowd doesn’t like to speak about this. They are typically hypocrites.
