Mining is performed much better these days than prior to 1977, the year the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act was established.
This act established a tax on every ton of coal produced in the US to be used exclusively for abatement of dangerous mine lands created before 1977, after 1977 the permit will ensure proper restoration. There is still plenty of Abandoned Mine Lands that need to be reclaimed.
President Biden and the current Progressive Democrat’s war on coal is actually hurting the restoration of dangerous lands in the US by eliminating the funding used to abate these lands. The people who do this couldn’t find their rear end with both their hands.

Coals being phased out and it will go extinct within the next 28 years. The climate bill passed and Biden will sign. Out with the old and into the future looking at renewables that will work like nuclear fission.

My comments reflect the unintended consequences of poor progressive policy that will let millions and millions of acres of Abandoned Mine Land fester with no funding to clean them up while these lands continue to cause physical "and" health problems to our people. Facts are facts.
