Yes it does, and for the most damaged (aggravated by their honorable service), a medical retirement is appropriate IMHO.

My uncle Larry was in Vietnam and was wounded on both his tours. He died from agent orange complications. He was shot before he joined the army. I'm sure it affected him somewhat, but you could never tell it. He raised 7 kids. I've met tough guys in my life, and he was as tough as they come, but he had an inner peace that astounded everyone who met him.

Interesting, times have certainly changed, my biggest trauma was probably dating breakups.

Who hasn't had some trauma before they were 18? This is just another effort to make everyone a victim! Everyone needs to cowboy up; life is hard and no one gets out alive.

MAJ Ken Landgren - I taught Swiftwater Rescue to both the Whitewater Professionals, weekend warriors and rescue professions. If the organization didn't have a professionally built program, I advised that they use the group above since they will do single counseling for companies with no programs or individuals. If you have one of these incidents, send them to the pro's.

I think this comment is an example of gaslighting what is reality for many people. Hope you have gained some more insight and empathy for our own.

MAJ Ken Landgren -
6. "Beware of practicing your righteousness before other people in order to be seen by them, for then you will have no reward from your Father who is in heaven." (2) “Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. (3) But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, (4) so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
