My father, Hugh D. Blanchard, played high school football in the same backfield with Doc Blanchard at St. Stanislaus Academy in Bay Saint Louis Mississippi. The local papers called them "The Blanchard Twins." Doc was enormous in comparison with the other members of his team.
Saint Stanislaus Academy, a Catholic boarding school, still holds Doc's college football awards, including his Heisman Trophy and Maxwell Award. West Point wanted those awards in the worst way but Doc's estate plan specified they would go to Saint Stanislaus.
