I reported the inappropriate material to Rally Point. Hopefully they will get it cleaned up soon. No one should have to look at stuff like this.

I never trust it when media tells me what a bill does without showing me the actual language. I trust it even less when they refuse to present both sides of the argument. The attached article is neither reporting nor journalism.

This law, if passed, would have criminalized the already criminal. Killing babies is already illegal, and doctors who deny lifesaving aid can be charged (notwithstanding DNRs and the like).

Further the medical community - those most affected AND knowledgeable about it - were against it noting a potential for forcing unhelpful and unnecessary medical treatment, as well as a potential for ot letting a family spend the few moments of life with a dying infant who will die regardless of medical intervention. The medical intervention will almost definitely only prolong life, but not to the point of the baby ever leaving the hospital, but this bill would require the medical professionals to invest countless dollars - and more importantly in an often overtaxed medical system, HOURS - to prolonging that life. And keeping the baby away from family for the ENTIRE duration.

I am about as strong of a right to life guy as it gets. I don't even support abortion in the case of incest, and only time limited support for rape. Yes, I know I am an "extremist" for that view, but that is how anti-abortion I am.

And even I would have voted against this. It was a bad law, poorly worded. And more importantly, unnecessary.

I agree with you. Every Referendum I ever saw was worded poorly and very ambiguous even if I agreed with the premise of the issue being advanced. I can’t understand why this seems to be common practice.

I posted this story because of all the testimony given over the years of this practice being done, allowing infants to die that is. While I don’t like the wording I believe the practice should be looked into.
