Ranger History: The Persian Gulf War

CPT (Join to see) RAY O’DELL, an Original, Darby trained Ranger told me his Ranger History. He once ran miles escaping Germans in Africa after a raid on a German position. After Cisterna, he awakened on a train enroute to Germany after being wounded by machine gun fire while hauling ass to a drainage ditch in an effort to escape the carnage. Confined as a farm worker in Germany, small portions of food smuggled to him by the German farmers helped him survive the POW food shortages. In the 1960s, Ray was reluctant to physically engage his sons for fear of injuring one of them.
