It's a tough time for many. When we had times like this we went to cash only and kept notes on where every penny went; built the budget and stuck to it.

Those of us who lived through it can. The younger folk that are 30 years old or less most likely are going to need a serious attitude adjustment about what they can do.

The young folks will be able to work through it just like we did in the 70's and 80's, the real people hurting right now are the elderly and all living on a fixed income.

Great share! The third point about being honest about what you have may be tough for many since it means coming to terms with poor financial habits.
Getting through tough times requires dedication to changing one's mindset and building strong routines. The harder part is continuing that habit in better times, keeping the momentum of savings going while the spending checks in under what is being earned.
Personal finance is simple to understand, but not easy to execute.
