Even though an answer is anecdotal, I wonder how many would have changed their vote if the laptop had not been suppressed.

Very few. This information was out there in the public domain, especially in the right-wing outlets. People knew about it, and many media sources were openly discussing it. Conservatives are just mad that the rest of the media didn't do their bidding. The election was a referendum on Trump, and wider dissemination of this story (which is basically about a son of a candidate, rather than about the candidate himself) wouldn't have changed those broader dynamics. People who voted for Trump were still going to vote for him, and people who voted against Trump were still going to vote against him. Biden was a secondary figure in all of that. He just benefited from being the opposition to Trump.

Some put it at more than enough to have swung the election. But more importantly, how may will remember in 2024 the dirty deeds of the Democrats.

Interesting question 1SG Patrick Burke. I've heard that comment about a those that voted for Biden changing their vote "if they had only known" but never dug into before, so decided to now.

There is an oft-cited figure that 16% of Biden voters would have changed their vote if the story was out there (in almost all cases, conservative media/pundits use "laptop story" and "FBI investigation" interchangeably because knowledge about the laptop (other than one exists) means they would be aware of the FBI investigation). This came from the Media Research Center poll's* (AllSides rates MRC as Strongly Conservative, but FiveThirtyEight shows that polling is pretty accurate) question, "Among Biden voters who were unaware of the FBI investigation, nearly 80% would have still voted for Biden had they known the information."

The 16% figure is incorrect. The question was for those that were 'unaware', not all of his voters. If you dig further into the poll, there was a question about being aware of the FBI investigation and of Biden voters, 45% were not aware of the investigation. Additionally, of those 16%, a quarter of them said they would have switched their vote to Trump.

By extrapolation, that 16% of those who were unaware becomes 7.2% of those that voted for Biden. Factor in that Trump would statistically gotten a boost of 1.8% of Biden's voters from those that would have switched to him (4% of those that didn't know). Statistically from the poll, that means a 9% swing in votes.

I'll leave others to debate which states (if any) would switched votes and if there were enough electoral vote changes to make a difference.

Additionally, many on the left will discount a poll because it is either from a conservative group or because it doesn't fit their narrative. Conversely, many on the right will automatically believe a poll for those exact reasons (it's from a conservative group and it fits their narrative).

I love Deroy Murdock's piece here. He lays it out succinctly.
