This is the most direct challenge to the Church and its teachings I have heard of to date. It is a direct and unconscionable violation of the 1st Amendment "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech,". I was taught at the Police Academy that while the 1st Amendment directly addresses the power of the legislative branch, it is equally applicable to all branches of government including the judiciary.
By the way, Where is the bishop or archbishop of this diocese? He should be front and center leading the charge.

Why I am not surprised that this is in Michigan...madness...I am ashamed to see this within the borders of the US at all. People came to this country and built it for religious freedom...

The law addresses "public" business and places. Does that apply to private schools? Let the courts decide.

As far as the courts are concerned, why should any school be expected to match the unlimited resources of the state in order to enforce a very clear Constitutional guarantee.
