Dale, I found it as a good refresher, but unfortunately for many, conversation is a lost art form. I found the article well written and easy to follow - great read for anyone.

I especially appreciated the section about disagreeing positively.

"I have a friend who has somewhat extreme political views, but he will always say things like, “I believe X, but I bet you believe Y and you always have interesting takes, so I’d love to hear your thoughts”. It’s a great way to disagree in a positive and constructive way, and I always enjoy conversations with him. In our conversations we also usually both concede points, as described in the previous tip, which makes the conversations even more engaging."

I would say that kids today are rude ... but that's been going on throughout history!

The sad part is if you disagree with someone politically now days you're labeled or canceled. You rarely have a chance to have a polite discourse or even mildly heated debate to agree or disagree. I have FB friends who are so anti GOP that any mention of a anti Dem/pro GOP idea would end the friendship. Some of those I could care less about, but some I would like to retain. It's a sad world we live in mostly brought about by most Universitys, the MSM, the Dem. Party & other left wing hate groups. I don't recall any GOP members call for hate you Dem. neighbor or members of the other party.

Does the problem reflect how parents allow their children to speak to them?
Do parents and children actually have conversations, so the kids learn how to problem solve, listen, process, and respond acceptably, share and exchange thoughts and opinions conversationally and respectably?
