Let's talk about defense conditions and rumors....

The regular rank and file -- if a condition changes, things around them will change. Leaves get cancelled or restricted, base accesses tighten up, etc. Operational security is heightened and more emphasis on situational awareness is encouraged through casual daily announcements -- especially overseas.

Also, there whenever there is a bigger threat -- like an FPCON or DEFCON threat, the first thing to trigger publicly is a national guard activation. Not just pieces of it in certain places but ALL of it. Think back to Panama or the first Gulf War. Even then, we didn't see anything more than DEFCON 3 and that was only for a short time.

My thoughts on these rumors is that people who start them watch entirely too much fiction and treat what they see there are real. Sadly, these same people are too ignorant to actually do a little proper research to really find out how things work so they make stuff up to fit whatever narrative they have in their heads."
