In Lansing, Michigan; There's A Bridge On Pennsylvania Avenue, About a Block North Of Potters Park. It Has Signs Posted Noting The Clearance, With Flashing Red Lights And Alarms Which Are SUPPOSED To Go Off, If You're Vehicle's Taller Than The Posted Height.
I Had To Rent An 18 Wheeler To Bring In Several Pieces Of Printing Equipment, To Open Another Shop.....As I'm Coming Down Pennsylvania Avenue, I Remembered "I'd Have To Pass Under The Pennsylvania Street Bridge", So I Pulled Over & Looked For The Numbers Indicating The Trucks Height...,.. And, Son-Of-A-Ditch, There Were NONE, Not One, Nothing What-So-Ever, So I Continued Slowly Towards The Bridge, THINKING I'd Be Safe.... Not A Light Lit Up, Nor Did An Alarm Sound Off, And I Pealed The Roof Off That Truck, Like A Sardine Can......

A1C Medrick "Rick" DeVaney The 11foot8 bridge's nickname is "The Can Opener" for the exact reason you stated!

My Issue Was Simpler... The Bridge Told The Max., But The Truck Had No Indications Of It's' Heights Printed On It....And None Of The Alarms Fired Off Either....
BY Law, The Trucks Were Required To Indicate Their Heights..
When It Was Taken To Court, The Rental Company Had No Chance.. It Was Over In Less Than 10 Minutes....
