There is nothing wrong with skipping College, there are many jobs that require skills obtained in another way and many pay quite well.

Two of our grandsons elected the noncollege route. One is becoming an electrician and the other is in construction.

Wait til the Illegal immigrants are amnestied .
Those wages will go down.
Even in inflationary times, number of available workers = average pay. The fewer workers, the higher the wages. The Higher the amount of available willing workers= lower wages.
Looks like Junior is going to be in their parent's home for a long long lllooonnnnggg time .

If he gets a tech certificate he will be fine, if he decides to pour coffee for a living...oh well. And remember his original choice was music...not a wise one to start with. We told the ones attending college...pick something useful (science, math, teaching, etc) art and music are for you...maybe take a minor in it.

After I retired I went to a Tech College, but the state still required the full range of courses. However, I got my degree in Fire and Rescue but of course had to take other courses. There were class choices of 'The Arts' (looking at paintings/listening to music), Computer Appreciation, English, etc.
I used the technical courses once I finished and did well but I felt that feel-good courses was a bad investment. More important to me was my time-waste on feel-good courses that had no connection to my main focus.

They may not have made much diff. then and prob. won't make much in the future, but they did make you a more well rounded and well versed citizen. Useful to you at the time or not. You learned things you didn't know.

SPC Bill Bailey - Disagree. I was already well rounded. That argument will not change my opinion as to their usefulness.

SFC Ralph E Kelley - Whether they are useful to you are not, you still learned some things you didn't know. Your opinion is your own and you're welcome to it, I'm not trying to change it Brother.
