My juice of choice was SCOTCH (I don't do that any more and I've also treated my nicotine addiction too) .....but the underlying stories are frighteningly the same REGARDLESS of your "medicine"..... These yo-yo's (see above) are/were a licensed cartel, and they are not alone, right here in the land of liberty.....

IMHO...the supplier problems will automatically be cured IF, and only IF, we can fix the mental, emotional, SPIRITUAL, and physical maladies which plague our species. Without customers they, the suppliers (and I make NO DIFFERENTIATION between "street" and "professionals") are closed. But then I have to ask myself, "do WE really want to?"
If this issue, and I mean ADDICTION not the supplies, gets addressed correctly I suspect that ADVERTISING will stop working (emotional exploitation is the root mechanism to both).... further, I make NO DIFFERENTIATION between "Cartels" and licensed "Pharma". They are in the exact same business....
To me it's the same thing as treating nicotine addiction by selling (prescribing and advocating) nicotine patches and gum. So, as an extension to that theme, we should treat opioid addiction via the path of stop injecting it and use a trans-dermal patch???? WTF? But, as a twisted joke, you need to have medical insurance to get that?????
An entire forum could, and probably should, be dedicated to this very topic in its MULTITUDE of forms and expression.

For those like me who suffer from chronic pain, opiods CAN be a blessing if used responsibly. I was on oxycodone from 2001-2007 after surviving a headon collision in my '91 Explorer Sport (no airbags) with a Dodge Ram Hemi carrying a washer and dryer and a refrigerator/freezer.
In 2007 I went cold turkey and switched to Buprenorphene. Then, when I had my R knee replaced in 2011, I went on morphine. I was taking 30mg SR 3xday and said I would never go cold turkey again.
We changed VA providers and I told my new primary care that I was concerned that taking so much morphine, I might have problems when I get to end-of-life care. She said the pain management docs had a new protocol for switching to Buprenorphene, so I said I'd give it a try.
I'm now down to 15mg SR morphine 2xday now and will drop to 15mg next weekend and start on a Buprenorphene path, then quit the morphine altogether after another week. . . .
