Strong winds and hail were reported across Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia on Sunday, with forecasters expecting heavy rain and the potential for flash flooding into Monday.
Wide swaths of Alabama and Mississippi were under a tornado watch late Sunday.
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp declared a state of emergency on Sunday after reports of severe weather across the state.
"As we continue to monitor the weather and work with local partners to address damage throughout the day, I ask all Georgians to join us in praying for those impacted," Kemp said in a statement on Twitter."
