US guided rockets in Ukraine are being jammed by Russia

*sigh* ... I wish reporters were required to pass a test on the subject they render an opinion on before they are allowed to say it in an article.

For over a decade now, it's been standard practice for all GPS guided munitions (such as the JDAM) to have redundant additional guidance packages (sometimes more than one additional). Jamming GSP signals won't "render them useless upon impact" - it could cause a larger footprint of landing (called a Circular Error Probable) from 3m up to 30m with that ... but it won't cause them not to explode. The GPS does not affect the weapon arming/detonating ... that is all done by the fuse on the munition.

The reason the JDAM equipped bombs weren't exploding would likely be an arming or fusing issue ... not the navigation package.

Well, now we know we have a problem BEFORE our military is on the battlefield.

Ahhh, if there was only a way to turn back time to TV guided bombs... Technology advances don't always mean that things will work better.
